"You can leave your hat on..."

Straw hat- French Connection

Everyone is wearing hats this summer, and being the fashion lover/victim I am, I am no exception. Panama hats, supersized straw hats who barely shows your eyes...Just go out and buy one. I love my French Connection hat, which I hope will get me through this summer, protetcting my head from the sun, and rescuing me from the wrinkles (and the other nasty stuff) that may follow. It is indeed a very practical fashion.
Do as Kate Moss and Sienna Miller and go for the Panama hat by for example Marc Cain, or play it up Hollywood style and choose the big versions, found at for example Ted Baker and H&M.

Doing my best to avoid the sun: Big sunglasses, hat and SPF 30.

Panama hat from Reiss.
Big straw hat from H&M.

My faboulous friend Stacey showing how effortless the summerlook could and should be. Top and shorts from H&M. I love the colourful sunglasses from The Garden collection, H&M. All she is missing is the hat..

"Baby take off your coat, real slow...
Take off the shoes, I'll take off the shoes..
Baby take off your dress,
yes,yes,yes...
You can leave your hat on,
you can leave your hat on,
you can leave yout hat on....."

Oh,yes...The Danes can sew

Alongside Day Birger et Mikkelsen, I have loved the Danish brand By Malene Birger for years. The way her dresses and styles fits the female body, and the way she year after year comes up with something new and exciting, keeps me just longing for more every season...
Here is some pieces of candy from her Early Summer 2010 collection:

The most gorgeus flower patterned dress I have ever seen.

I swore never to wear flower patterned trousers again after the age of 7. However, right now, I feel pretty tempted...

This jumpsuit goes straight on my wishlist. Perhaps in pink (as displayed in the June edition of Elle UK).

The perfect outfit for a relaxed day on the beach or a city break.

The gorgeus shoes the models are wearing -Balisa, By Malene Birger. I have been looking and searching for them for over two months now. They will be mine..Eventually.

Go to the By Malene Birger website for retailers, and more tempting pieces of candy. I think By Malene Birger is my favourite fashion line this summer, closely followed by Sandro.

Do you have a favourite designer or brand this spring/ summer?

Socks in Sandals

Having visible socks in the sandals has for as long as most of us can remember probably been one of the biggest fashion no-no's. As such, it did not lack of comments and meanings when the catwalks were filled up by girls wearing this number one fashion no-no this spring.
I have a very faboulous french friend, and her initial reaction was "that's just not right". However, the hard core fashionistas around the world has embraced the trend, and I must admit, I quite like it. I think the socks bring a certain edge to an outfit, giving the wonderful opportunity to play with yet another accessory. It is also a very practical trend, keeping the feet warm, and perhaps hiding the fact that you did not prioritise pedicures over the winther.

Of course there is strong gudielines on which socks you actually can use. They should not be thick, preferably see-through, and not too patterned. The keyword is elegance, so do not fall for the temptation to use your old tennis socks. It is also very important to use the right shoes and clothes to this trend, stearing clear of jeans and long dresses. Use the socks with short skirts, dresses and this seasons shorts. The pictures above should give you a clue. Heels is essential, but wether it is killer or kitten, you can decide.

I have been trying on this trend since February/March, and I must admit I have got some amusing reactions. Even boys who do not know squat about fashion has approached me and said "you do realise you are wearing socks in your shoes?". Everyone knows it is a no-no, so I have experienced peculiar looks from resturant guests, random people and the street, and of course, the fashion aware friends. It is not expected by the fashion gurus that this trend is going to be followed to slavishly by everyone, our negative view about socks in sandals is to deeply embedded in our mind. However, this spring socks in sandals is a yes-yes. And I love it.
Perhaps I can convince some of you to join me?:)

What do you think?

Honfleur, France..

My Mulberry and me never parts...Bag-Mulberry, top- Ted Baker, Leather jacket- Bruuns Bazaar (bzr)

Travel is not only a big passion of mine, but also a great source of inspiration. It is a great opportunity to use clothes seldom worn, buy rare items, and just get inspired by beautiful places and new people. This time around, I had a wonderful weekend in Honfleur, France, and my beloved leather jacket from the Danish brand Bruuns Bazaar finally was taken out of the closet for the spring.

Honfleur is an extremely idyllic town situated on Cote de Fleur in Normandie, France. It is famous, amongst other things, for the many famous artists who has lived in and been inspired by the town over the years. It has a numerous amount of tiny art galleries, so if you ever need to shop for rare and special art, I can promise you that Honfleur has something that would suit your taste.
