Bag - Ted Baker, waistbelt - Tiger of Sweden, sunglasses- Topshop.

I must admit that my everyday style is not the most exciting one. I wish I could be like the fashionistas out there, who seemingly got both the time and the inspiration to put on something absolutely fantastic every single day. However, I find it very important to sometimes just be effortless and casual.

Rimmel Pro

Every New Years eve (as so many other girls) I promise myself to improve in some small way the next year. Standard vows like "I will go to the gym minimum three times a week from now on", "I will eat healthy food and more fruit", "I will stop drinking so much coffee and eating so much chocolate (as if that would ever happen!), "I will start saving more money" and "I will give money to a good cause every month". And so it goes on...blablabla. And every year, on the 3rd of January, I find myself skipping the gym, forgetting my muesli breakfast, having a big coffee with an even bigger chocolate muffin, followed by an huge shopping spree, maxing out my creditcard (think Shopoholic, the books, not the movie). No money left for charity then.
So to save myself the dissapointment this year, I promised myself that in 2010 I would only have achieveable New Years resolutions, and however vain they might be, I can (perhaps not with pride) say that I have been pretty good at keeping them this year. So what was my resolutions? - Wear bigger earrings and use more nailpolish. Oh, I said they were kind of vain.

And in my search for the perfect nailpolish, I encountered Rimmel Pro. Those who knows me well, knows that I swear my loyalty to brands like Clinique, Lancome and Chanel. However, this nailpolish, which are not even noticeable as an expense on my budget, is absolutely fantastic. Usually I am like a five year old when applying nailpolish, getting more on my fingers than on my nails. But the broad brush on Rimmel Pro makes it impossible to miss the nails, and you only need to put the wand to your nails one time, and one, two three, they are dry and you are ready to go. Magic!

The Rimmel Pro colour palette, I want them all.

My selection of Rimmel Pro ( from the left): 286-Oyster Pink, 378-Posh Trash, 421-Clearly Clear, 325-Hot Gossip.

Rimmel London, Mirror shine lipgloss - Vinyl Bronze

After being so satisfied with the nailpolish from Rimmel, I thought I should give some of their other products a chance as well. An guess what? They also have an amazing non sticky lip gloss. And every lip gloss addicted girl knows they are hard to come by...

Did I mention that the new Elle UK is out? The May edition is inspiring, as always. Fashion warning: Rolled up trousers (jeans) are back in the game. So roll up those jeans and go shopping for some gorgeus lacey socks you can wear in your sandals. Yes, you read right - Socks in sandals are by all means very hot, and very much allowed this summer. Enjoy!

Sex and the City 2..

I am a huge fan of SATC, and ever since I bought the shoebox with all the seasons, I have regarded Carrie and co as some of my best friends. I loved, even though perhaps mostly because of the nostalgic feeling when seeing all the girls again, the first movie. And now I am so excited about SATC 2 that I have allready started on the Cosmopolitans. Released on May 27th, I am expecting fashion moments, some new trends, a fantastic party, but most of all a happy reunion. I am very curious about what Patricia Field has dressed up the girls in this time around, sneak pictures of the set has given an indication of that we are going to get a flashback to the 80s, followed by dazzling desert fashion...
May I predict, that in June, a lot of girls will pick up some of the tiny trends SATC, and Patricia, so subtle creates.
I am making my SATC 2 day into a whole day of Cosmo's and girl talk. Are you as excited as I am?

Day Birger et Mikkelsen...

Outfits from Day Birger et Mikkelsen

Even though Scandinavia is not historically mostly known for its fashion industry, it does have some great designer brands. The Scandinavian "mode" is often known to be a bit dark, playing classical conservative forms and asymmetric stylishness against eachother in a constant fight. Add a dash of romance, a rough, yet elegant edge, and you have the Danish brand Day Birger et Mikkelsen. I have been a big fan of the brand, which was founded by the Danish designers Keld Mikkelsen and Malene Birger in 1997, for several years, and I plan to be devoted for many more. Malene Birger left Day some years ago, and became a great competition to her former workplace, with her own very successful brand, By Malene Birger. The idea behind the Day brand was to create contemporary everyday glamour, which every woman would feel radiant wearing. Day is loved for their fantastic shirts, made in everything from the lightest silk to the most wonderfully heavy cotton which will last forever. Day is also often spotted on Scandinavian celebrities, and especially their romantic short dresses are often seen worn by the fashionistas of the north. The 2010 spring/summer collection from Day is a joy for every fashion loving girl, and I highly recommend to visit their website..If nothing else, use the elegant pictures as an inspiration, and get a sneak peek into the exciting Danish fashion scene. In the UK you can get Day at House of Fraser (last time I checked), in Norway you will encounter Day several places (check the retailer list at the Day website). However, I will recommend a little trip to my former employer, His & Hers boutique in Gjøvik, they usually have very good selection of the most beautiful shirts in the Day range. I can almost promise you that you will not be able to walk out of there empty handed.

Pink car accessory...

I was strolling around the neighbourhood one day, when I came across this gorgeus little pink Mini. And I just have to say, with a pink little candy like this, who would ever need to buy another bag? This car must be the ultimate girlish accessory, and I am very much in love...

The little blue dress..

Dress, sequin cardigan & bag -Topshop, tights -H&M, ancle boots -Dune.

Earrings - Snø, nailpolish - Rimmel Pro, col: 325 Hot Gossip.

The winter 2009/10 was indeed the season for the little blue dress. Presumably every new season the magazines will tell us that a colour, would it be brown, pink or grey, is the new black. And this winter it was blue (and yes, we have heard it before as well). I loved my little blue layered dress from Topshop, and I actually think I will keep on wearing it this summer. However, I will make it more sun and heat friendly and match it with softer colours, pastels and tanned leather bags.
It is also worth mentioning that the same dress is now available in pastels and beige, and again the magazines do not fail to tell us that this summer - beige is the new black.
But for us with fair skin and no great tan to speak of, beige sometimes can be a bit....beige. So I will keep on wearing my lovely blue dress, and at the longest stretch for a white, cream colour if I really want to look like I am wearing a bit beige. For those who are following the "beige is the new black" trend slavishly, spice it up with a colourful scarf (may I suggest cerise or coral)and some golden earrings, that will make the look less pale.

TOMS shoes

In Norway we have these special days during the year, when the televison channels do not broadcast any commercials, except the ones that are used to create awareness around good causes which need donations. Some days during Easter falls under this category, and I thought that I would do something similar on this blog this year. I know that this is not exactly Doctors without borders, but this is a fashion blog (so what can you really expect).
I have fallen head over heels in love with TOMS shoes. It is a fantastic concept where they will, when you buy a pair of shoes, give a pair of shoes to a child in need. And if that was not great enough, the shoes are really, really comfortable as well. I bought a pair two weeks ago, and I can not wait for spring to really kick in, so I can wear them all the time.

My brand new pair of TOMS shoes.

The TOMS collection got some notion last summer, and this year they have a wider range, including a bunch of models to choose from, so my prediction is that they will be even more popular in 2010 . Check out their website www.toms.com for models and retailers.

Is'nt it great when you can shop with a clear conscience?
